Acid Etched Glass/Frosted Glass or Non-Fingerprint Glass
Acid Etched Glass is made by first covering the glass panel with an acid-resistant material, like wax, which allows the design to be scratched. Next, the exposed areas of the glass are etched using hydrofluoric acid or a solution of diluted hydrofluoric acid and potassium fluoride. This gives the glass a final, distinctive, uniformly smooth, and stain-like appearance that is resistant to dirt, oil, and fingerprints. It is also available in a variety of patterns, textures, and translucencies, offering privacy and aesthetics with a high degree of light transmittance.
The surface of this type of glass is consistently silky smooth. Acid-etched glass has a matte, translucent appearance. Diffuse light is transmitted through acid-etched glass, which also offers privacy from other glass. It is created by acid-etching one or both faces of clear, colored, or ultra-clear glass.
Acid-etched glass can be ordered with a fingerprint removed on one or both sides, depending on the specific needs of the customer. This technique, which was also known as carving or sculpture, allowed for far deeper pattern etching on single-color glass than was typically possible with cased glass.
Sandblasted glass is created by using a high-speed machine to apply a stencil design to glass and then blasting the glass panel with sand, walnut husks, or other materials. The glass is visible underneath because the stencil prevents the glass from being removed by the abrasive sand.Throughout this procedure, shading and depth can be imparted to the glass by gradually removing the stencil. When it comes to producing patterns or privacy strips, among other design effects, sandblasting may be very versatile.
